This document is designed to assist educators in interpreting and implementing Louisiana's new mathematics standards. It contains descriptions of each grade level math standard to answer questions about the standard's meaning and how it applies to student knowledge and performance. The Companion Guides reflect the intent of the standard through explanations and samples.
The Focus Document shows where students and teachers should spend the large majority of their time in order to meet the expectations of the Louisiana Student Standards.
Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics for Kindergarten through Grade 8 are listed by domain and then by grade. The purpose of this arrangement is to show how mathematical concepts are built within and across domains and how they progress across grades.
